- We provide FREE consultations for wills, trusts and estates, during our regular working hours. There is a $50 consultation fee for evening or weekend consultations.
- Get your simple and/or complex will.
- Living Revocable Trusts, rather than a will, can save your family significant time and money.
- Irrevocable Trusts, to assist you with Medicaid planning and benefits.
- Gun Trust provides clear instructions for loved ones regarding what they can and cannot do if a gun owner becomes incapacitated; without a trust, family members may come into contact with restricted weapons, which could put them at risk of inadvertently violating federal or state law.
- Land Trust for asset protection and privacy.
- Special Needs Trust for the protection of your loved one’s with “special needs” upon your death.
- Limited and Statutory Durable Power of Attorney to determine who will make all other important decisions, other than your health, when you can’t.
- Health Care Power of Attorney to determine who makes medical decisions for you when you can’t.
- HIPPA Authorization to ensure that those you wish have access to your medical records.
- Living Will / Directive to Physicians expresses your “end of life” decisions to ensure those responsible understand your wishes.
- Designation of Temporary or Permanent Guardian or Conservator provides instructions about who will serve to be responsible for you or your children if I you cannot.

- Fixed Fees for most legal services and consultations.
- Reasonable hourly billing rate for non-fixed fee cases. $200 per hour for other legal services, which is very reasonable compared with other lawyers of Steve's knowledge and experience.
- Pay for Estate Planning documents alone or in a bundle: only pay for what you need.
- Payment plans available.
- Discounts available for cash payments, paying in advance and for members of some special groups; teachers, first responders, active-duty military, Knights of Columbus, and Ancient Order of Hibernians.
- Weekend, Evening and House Call Consultations are available.

Steve Monks

Born in Texas, I moved to North Carolina as soon as I could; apologies to my Texas friends and family. I've tried over 500 cases and handled thousands more. I have managed and worked in small and medium sized law firms, some with multiple offices. Now I'm a solo practitioner working out of my backyard “shoffice”. A shoffice is a shed that has been transformed into an office. This affords me the opportunity to assist with the care of my mother-in-law who lives with my wife, Yvonne and I, and who has Alzheimer's. My areas of practice have been diverse including Immigration Law, Criminal Law, Family Law, Traffic Ticket Defense, General Civil Litigation and presently and primarily, Wills, Trusts, and Estates Law. I am a certificated mediator, continuing legal education presenter and I have published legal articles in various mediums. I have been the attorney and member of the board of directors for non-profit organizations, various businesses, have provided countless hours of pro bono services and have worked extensively with the group legal industry having served as a member of the board of directors of the Group Legal Services Association. And, I have been a defensive driving instructor, disc jockey and cheerleader for the infamous Phi Slamma Jamma basketball team; Go Coogs! "I may not have seen it all, but I've seen a lot".
